A magic drink for weight loss
Have you been trying to lose your weight or wanting to reduce the fat around your tummy? Here… Try this detox drink! Work stress makes me so tired that I don’t want to go to the gym / work out every day. (Also I am lazy :P) Even if I work out, eventually I end up having a huge appetite and eat more than I normally do. That’s bad isn’t it? I know. I couldn’t help myself. So my wife found this recipe from a facebook post and I started drinking this regularly 2 or 3 glasses everyday.
What did the drink do to me?
I felt the drink to be refreshing, reduced my appetite, and I lost few pounds in a month. The process is slow but more than effective. Also you get the desired water content in your body through this. You would experience refreshing changes immediately in your body.
Ingredients:
1. 1 sliced Lemon
2. 1 sliced cucumber
3. 1 tbsp. grated ginger
4. Water
5. 1 sliced Lime
6. 10-15 mint leaves
Procedure:
Mix all the ingredients in water and stir. Have a glass before your breakfast, one in the evening & one before you go to bed.
Experience the magic!
We usually make the drink enough for two days. Sometimes we improvise the recipe by adding 1 tbsp. of cumin seeds and few coriander leaves, as they too have detox properties.
Experiencing its magic, I googled about the properties of its ingredients. Here is what I found. Its additional medical benefits:
Lemon
Lemon is rich in vitamin C, strong antibacterial, antiviral and immune-boosting powers and their use as a weight loss aid because lemon juice is a digestive aid and liver cleanser. Lemon juice is an astringent and can be used to gargle with for sore throats or as lotion for sunburn. It’s also a cooling drink for fevers. With strong anti-inflammatory properties, lemon juice is recommended for acute rheumatism. Lemon juice counteracts narcotic poisoning, and has long been recognized for its value as a hangover cure.
The juice isn’t the only medicinal part of the lemon. The peel contains higher concentrations of citric acid and active anti-cancer compounds than the juice or the pulp.
Cucumber
Cucumbers are a good source of B vitamins. It has 95 percent water, so re-hydrates body and replenishes daily vitamins. It’s an amazing natural skin and hair care product as it heals skin irritations, sunburns and stimulates hair growth. It also fights cancer, relieves bad breath, a good hangover cure, reduces cholesterol, controls blood pressure, cures diabetes and relieves joint pains.
Mint
Mint or pudina is filled with antioxidants and phytonutrients that do wonders for your stomach. According to Ayurveda practitioners, it is also very beneficial for patients suffering from IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome). It helps the muscles in the stomach relax and promotes overall digestion. It calms stomach cramps and pain associated with menstrual cramps, fights aches and pain, gives glowing & acne free skin, relieves cough, asthma, oral infections, boosts immunity and beats morning sickness in pregnant women.
Breathing in the fumes of mint helps relax the body and calm the mind, freeing it of stress. It releases a small amount of serotonin in the brain that also helps beat depression. If you are feeling low, add a little mint leaves or mint extract to your bath water, or use mint extract on a vaporizer to get some relief.
Ginger
Herbal medicine, ginger is regarded as an excellent carminative (a substance which promotes the elimination of intestinal gas) and intestinal spasmolytic (a substance which relaxes and soothes the intestinal tract). Modern scientific research has revealed that ginger possesses numerous therapeutic properties including antioxidant effects, an ability to inhibit the formation of inflammatory compounds and direct anti-inflammatory effects.
Cumin seeds
We add cumin seed / powder to most of our daily food recipes. Never realized that it has lots of medicinal uses until I read this article here.
Coriander leaves
These coriander leaves have similar properties as I explained about mint. It helps in lowering blood glucose levels in diabetics, digestion, curing intestinal gas, protects from urinary tract infection, regulates menstrual flow, cleanses skin, stimulates memory in brain, prevents nausea and vomiting and studies say that it helps in curing anemia.
Tip: A paste of coriander and turmeric juice treat pimples and blackheads.
Hey, don’t forget to write us about your experience on this drink & any suggestions for improvising the drink.
