I had a client request this particular design at a certain height since she couldn’t find one in the size she was looking for. So, I built a pair for her. These nightstands feature a sleek design with a spacious drawer and an open shelf, providing both storage and style. The finished piece measures 23″ wide, 17.5″ deep, and 28″ tall, perfect for any modern bedroom.

- 2×2 wood for framing
- 1/2″ or 1/4″ plywood for the drawer bottom
- 3/4″ plywood for the nightstand body

- Cutting the Wood:
- Start by cutting all your pieces to size according to the cut list. This includes the frames, sides, top and shelf of the nightstand. Cuts for the drawer can be done later.
- Assembling the Frame:
- Assemble the main frame of the nightstand using wood glue and pocket hole joinery. Attach the sides and shelf to the frame, making sure everything is square.
- Building the Drawer:
- Measure the drawer space and cut the parts. Step by step instructions on how to build is available with 3d illustrations in our build plan document. Assemble the drawer box as per the instructions and Install the drawer slides according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
- Attaching the Drawer Front:
- Attach the drawer front to the drawer box, ensuring it aligns perfectly with the nightstand frame. Add the drawer pull.
- Finishing Touches:
- Sand the entire nightstand thoroughly to ensure a smooth surface. Apply your chosen paint or stain, allowing it to dry completely between coats.
- Final Assembly:
- Once the paint or stain is dry, attach the top. Finally, insert the drawer to the nightstand and ensure it slides smoothly.
